Two weeks ago, the Disruptive Technology Strike Force (DTSF) - that includes Departments of Justice (#DOJ) and Commerce (#BIS), alongside their partners at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (#FBI) and Homeland Security Investigations (#HSI) - held a meeting with US government and private sector partners to discuss the threat to advanced U.S. technology from hostile foreign governments and its efforts to counter it.
The agencies that comprise the Strike Force have taken an all-tools approach to aggressively pursue enforcement actions against illegal procurement networks and prevent nation-state actors from illicitly acquiring our most sensitive technology
Attendees included key figures from Ukraine's government, who emphasized the need for export control and limiting arms being sent to Russia.

BITE Use Case: Screening for High Priority Battlefield items
In September 2023, the US, UK, and EU, and Japan, updated their Common High Priority Items Lists (“the List(s)“), with seven new Harmonized System (“HS“) codes. These coordinated Lists are composed of items identified as critical to Russia’s war effort, weapons systems and military development. The Lists highlight to businesses that there is a particularly high risk these sanctioned items may be the target of sanctions circumvention and possible diversion to Russia. Companies can expect that the items on the Lists will be an enforcement priority in these jurisdictions.
Listed products include electronic components, such as integrated circuits and radio frequency transceiver modules, and items that are essential for the manufacturing and testing of the electronic components and circuits. Companies that sell and ship the Listed products should be on high alert for possible red flags indicating that the items could be diverted to Russia.
In the video below, Anne shows us how to use BITE to screen for commodities that are found in the High Priority Battlefield lists.

A key function of any good compliance and/or Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) shop, is the ability to track work, especially from an audit perspective.
We've been building out our BITE Vault capabilities, to allow users to store screening tasks - including bulk screening tasks - share them with their team and upload attachments.
This is especially important for pre-screening tasks as well - users may want to screen for entities and commodities, before they get into the organization's ERP System.
Over the summer, we plan to expand the capabilities of the Vault, and allow users to send questionnaires to downstream vendors and suppliers, bulk check their responses and store them in the vault.
