    Kevin brings nearly three decades of expertise from the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Most recently, Mr. Kurland served as Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Strategic Trade and Technology Security at BIS, overseeing export control and defense industrial base policy. Prior to this role, he served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement, where he was responsible for implementing BIS's export enforcement program.

    In these capacities, his responsibilities included:

    • Drafting amendments to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
    • Processing export licenses
    • Conducting Section 232 investigations
    • Performing CFIUS reviews
    • Assessing EAR compliance programs
    • Investigating and imposing penalties on export control and antiboycott violators
