How Agentic AI is Transforming Export Classification and Compliance

BITE team is continuing to refine and optimize our export classification workflow that we rolled out last week.

Export compliance has changed dramatically, and it's no longer just about checking a denied party list or figuring out whether something falls under ITAR, or putting everything under an EAR99 bucket.

The U.S. government is aggressively focused on diversion risk, sensitive technologies, drone components, advanced electronics, and the movement of strategic goods through intermediary networks.

In BIS Export Enforcement's 2024 review alone:

• More than 340 parties were added to the Entity List
• BIS completed 1,400+ end-use checks across 60 countries
• Enforcement actions tied to sensitive technology transfers to Russia, China, and Iran continued to accelerate

For a lot of exporters, classification and licensing workflows are still managed across spreadsheets, PDFs, disconnected screening tools, and internal tribal knowledge.

We wanted to build something more operational that leveraged the power of agentic AI.
